A Neighborhood with a View

I spent this afternoon walking around the edge of my neighborhood, taking in the views.  Kadikoy is located on a nub of land that sticks near the opening of the Bosphorus, allowing for great views to European Istanbul and the Sea of Marmara.

In the foreground, the sea of Marmara, the body of water between the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus.  In the background, the largerest of the Prince's Islands, where members of the Byzantine royal family would be sent into exile.

Two more of the Prince's Islands.

A daytime view of the old city. From left, the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace surrounded by Gulhane Park.

And now, a sokak kedi takes an afternoon nap.
